What is a McKenzie Friend?

A McKenzie Friend supports you if you're representing yourself in the family or civil court — known as a "litigant in person". We're not solicitors and don't give legal advice. Instead, we help you complete court forms such as the C100 and FL401, prepare your statements and bundle, and sit beside you at your hearing taking notes and offering quiet support.

Costs are agreed up front and are usually far lower than a solicitor's. See services and fees.

Why Nikkie is different

Nikkie combines 17 years as an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor — including 7 years as a Court IDVA — with her own experience of facing the family court alone. She knows the process, and she knows how it feels.

That's why our support is especially suited to anyone affected by domestic abuse, coercive control or a frightening court process. Read Nikkie's story.
